Dec - The Declination of the center of Mars in degrees. Dist - The distance of Earth from Mars in Astronomical Units. NOTE: An Astronomical Unit is 92,955,621 miles or 149,597,892 km. Ls - Planetocentric Longitude of the Sun, measured eastward in the planet's orbital plane from Mars' Northern Hemisphere's vernal equinox. (Also referred to Areocentric Long). De - Sub-Earth point (Planetocentric Declination of Earth) as seen from Earth with respect to Mars in degrees. Ds - Sub-Solar point (Planetocentric Declination of Sun) as seen from the Sun with respect to Mars in degrees (positive to the north). Phase k - The fraction of the area of the apparent disk of Mars that is illuminated by the Sun. Phase i - The angle of the area of the apparent disk of Mars that is illuminated by the Sun. Defect - Sun-Mars-Earth position angle. Measured counterclockwise from north; 0° to 359°, to the point on the limb of the greatest defect of illumination. Axis - Position angle of the North Pole of Mars with respect to the North Pole of the Earth. Size - Apparent angular diameter in seconds of arc (twice the semidiameter). Mag - Geocentric apparent Visual Magnitude. CM - Planetographic longitude of the central meridian of Mars, in degrees. NOTE: The Central Meridian is an imaginary line passing through the planetary poles of rotation and bisecting the planetary disk. This line is used to define what areographic longitudes are present on the disk during an observing session.
