C/2021 A1 (Leonard) 2021-Dec-27 Mike Olason

Several days since last imaged C/2021 A1. 50mm scope, camera and mount were soaked waiting for a hole in the clouds on Christmas Day evening during an unexpected shower. On the evening of 2021 Dec 27 UT there were several openings in the clouds, of course there were only clouds in the southwest sky. This is the first time imaging the comet since 2021 Dec 24 and I believe it is fading from it's last brightening a few days ago. Astrometrica calculated the comet at magnitude G=3.9 using 10x10s green filter images, another measurement thru thin clouds was G=4.1. The coma was 8' wide and the tail extended well beyond the FOV of these images at PA 94 degrees. Rain and clouds forecast until New Years, hopefully a few holes in the clouds will allow a few images each evening.

Cheers, Mike.
