Comet Leonard over Tucson AZ on the evening of December 20 2021 (Dec 21 UT)
An outburst of Comet Leonard made it significantly brighter than predicted. This resulted in a great presentation in the Tucson AZ twilight. These images were captured at 6:40 pm in the last of the fading light while the comet was still high enough to be out of the near horizon haze/clouds/

Comet Leonard (upper left in lower panel) was in outburst. Venus is to the right. The scene overlooks Tucson AZ from the foothills. A telescope photo shows the detail of Comet Leonard and the jets emerging from the nucleus. The view from my backyard.

The scene image was captured with a Nikon D850 and a Nikon 105 mm F1.4 lens. The telescope image was captured with a Vixen VSD 100 mm astrograph and a Nikon Z7II camera. The telescope image is 35 x 4 sec stacked.
