C/2019 K7 (Smith) 2021-Jul-06 Dan Bartlett

17th magnitude comet C/2019 K7 (Smith) has just moved past the center of Elliptical Draco Dwarf Galaxy. Look for it just barely to the bottom left of the central condensation of stars.

I couldn't find many images of this galaxy although it's rather famous for its symmetry, lack of dust/gas and perhaps the most studied local group galaxy suspected of having extensive amounts of Dark Matter. The Draco Dwarf is heading directly towards us.

Comet C/2019 K7 Smith is 5 AU away from us , about the distance of Jupiter's orbital distance. It won't be getting any closer to us or the sun, passing perihelion on or about June 17 2021. It does have an extensively long tail and a reddish color for its distance.
