A quick look back at comet 13P/ Olbers on Perihelion, June 30, 2024. Both widefield and closeup rigs were setup and imaged for this date. Due to a large amount of smoke from California wildfires I neglected processing either sets of data, until now. Although this version does show some of the twists and turns of the evening, I can't help but like the widefield (RASA11 + Fullframe) a little better, due to the expanse of the tail.

Surprising me most is how two imaging rigs, with near identical imaging time can produce such differing results, especially with color saturation at play. The RASA 11 surpassed the C14 Hyperstar when color saturation is compared. The other surprise is how SPCC in PixInsight was able to correct the overall color despite the heavily "redden" color (both individual subs and the final integration) due to the heavy smoke settling through my mountain valley. Gradient correction and color calibration were lifesavers here.

Onward to new image data over the next several days.
