12P/Pons-Brooks 2024-Apr-22 Mike Olason

Orange twilight has engulfed 12P as it sets now before it gets dark. 12P on the evening of 2024 April 24 UT was magnitude G=4.0 as calculated from 8x15s images taken thru a green filter in an aperture diameter of 10'. The SNR was good and there were enough stars to do the magnitude calculation with no problem. Thru a red filter the comet became visible earlier than I expected when trying to find it which seem to indicate the comet had brightened some, so it was not surprising that the magnitude calculations showed the comet had brightened since I last observed it on the evening of 2024 April 22 UT. In wide field of view images the comet is hard to see in the orange twilight sky now from Tucson.
